What is Artificial Intelligence (AI) in its essence? Why it is believed that AI can really mimic and even overcome the capacities of human mind?

Scientific investigations are based on two fundamental activity: observations and collecting data from experiences and construction of theoretical synthesis in terms of mathematical concepts. The final outcome is a mathematical model that, to some extent, can be used to predict natural world  phenomena.

This course is a very short introduction to understand some basic aspects  model construction which are at the heart of investigation about of AI and   neural network.

The course is formed by three activities:

  1. Construct a mathematical description of observational data
  2. Explore the differences among three concepts: modelling, laws, principles and theories.
  3. The building box of AI: understanding and modelling neuronal activity
